Aerospace Warranty Management SystemThe ProblemCommercial airframe and engine OEMs back their products with an array of guarantees and warranties. While the warranties and guarantees reassure customers that the product they are buying will perform as promised, some OEMs are steadily taking away what has been offered. As a result, airlines are paying higher maintenance prices than they projected. The period of time to file a warranty claim has been eroding to the detriment of the airline. Regulatory authorities require maintenance records to be retained by airlines, repair stations, etc. The information to substantiate a valid warranty claim is readily available, so there is no justifiable reason to reduce filing times other than someone wants to keep the misspent money! Some OEMs have consolidated their warranty operations and reduced staff. As a result, the OEM response time to respond to the warranty claim is increasing. Many OEMs are exceeding their contractual commitments for warranty response times. |
